The Local Final Future Chef Competition, part of a four stage nationwide culinary competition organised by Springboard, took place at St Edmund’s Catholic Academy today.
The judging panel consisted of Adrian Cousins, Regional Development Chef at Baxter Storey, and Chef Director Simon Denton, from Independent and former Executive Chef at The Swan at The Globe, London.
The competitors included Molly Kerrin, Kacper Siwiec, Vilte Skeberdyte from St Edmund’s and Liam Anslow and Finlay Bickerton from Burton Borough High School, Newport.
The judges watched over the competitors who were required to demonstrate practical skills, produce a selection of dishes, work in a methodical manner, produce a menu costing form and show an understanding of the nutritional value of their food. Judges marked students on their workmanship, creativity and presentation, composition, taste and menu balance.
After much deliberation the winner of the Local Final FutureChef Competition was Vilte Skeberdyte. Vilte has now won herself a place in the Regional Finals.
Congratulations to all our young chefs for their tremendous effort and beautifully presented food created today.
